The 1997-98 NBA season was the Wizards' 37th season in the NBA.〔(1997-98 Washington Wizards )〕 The team was renamed the "Wizards" and played their first five home games at U.S. Airways Arena, where they went 0-5 at home. They would move into their original home, the MCI Center in December. Washington finished fourth in the Atlantic Division with a 42-40 record, missing the playoffs. Guard Rod Strickland led the league with 10.5 assists, and made the All-NBA Second Team. Center Gheorghe Muresan was injured, and missed the entire season. After the season, Chris Webber would be traded to the Sacramento Kings for Mitch Richmond. ==Offseason==
